Astley Burf

Hi Everyone!! We're having a fab first day, here are some of the things we've been up to!!!!

Prince William at Mary Stevens Park

Yesterday, Year 6 were privileged to be at Mary Stevens Park for Prince William's visit. He was there for the unveiling of the new Frank Foley statue. We spent our aspire day learning all about Frank Foley and the artist - Andy DeComyn - who created the statue.

We waved at Prince William as he arrived in his Range Rover ( he waved back! ) and saw him making his way into the gardens. We even spoke to a member of the Intelligence Corps who was very impressed with all of Year 6's knowledge about Frank Foley.

Year 6 are extremely proud of the heroic acts of Frank Foley and were honoured to be part of such a memorable occasion.

Aspire Day

On Monday we had our first 'Aspire Day' of the new academic year.

Each year group had their own topic, and we had a fabulous array of amazing outfits to support the day, from Firefighters, to Rainforest and African animals, Cavemen to Victorians and Word War II evacuees.

I wonder if you can tell which topic year 5 had - Miss Beddoes was taking her role very seriously!!
