Summer Term Letter

Hello to all our Year 3 children and families,

I hope you are all keeping well and happy and that you had lots of fun and chocolate over Easter.

It feels so strange that I haven’t seen everyone for so long. I am missing seeing everyone in assemblies and around school, but in particular, I am missing Year 3 and your smiley faces. (Shhhh don’t tell the others!)

In the meantime, I have been keeping myself busy… There is still lots of school work to be done, but when I am not doing that I have really been enjoying going out in the garden planting flowers and vegetables. Evie has been helping me too and is learning lots about nature along the way. We have been doing a butterfly survey and Evie has been teaching me the names of lots of butterflies I didn’t know! Maybe you could have a go too? I have also been enjoying, cooking, baking and a bit too much eating! I have been catching up on all my reading and doing my Sudoku number puzzles too. Sometimes Evie and I get our violins out and have a practice together, which has been good fun. Those of you that play musical instruments at school, can register for online lessons with your music teacher if you want to. Details are on our school website – you can contact dpa.cs@dudley.gov.uk to register.

I am still teaching too, because like many of you, Evie and I are home learning. Be good for your parents, it’s not easy, so always try your best. I have been telling Evie what I have taught you all about too – that stretching your brain a little bit everyday makes a mind full of knowledge. You might have seen that we have started posting the winners of the Top Doodling Class on our website last week… guess what? We won! I am so proud of you Year 3! 75% of you were on target on DoodleMaths last week, which is wonderful. Let’s see if we can get even more of the team on there this week. Keep on stretching those brains, just a little bit everyday will make all the difference when you come back to school. Most importantly, remember to feel and share happiness  everyday. It is all very strange at the moment, but it won’t last forever. It won’t be long before we are all back together at school sharing our stories and playing with our friends again. Until then, be good, stay safe and enjoy the wonderful sunshine with your family.

Lots of love,

Mrs Hadley

Hello there, Year 3!

can’t begin to tell you how much I miss you all!  I hope you are all keeping safe and well - and that your families are, too.  I have just come in from the garden to write you a little message. I hope you are all making the most of the sunshine and getting plenty of time in your own gardens!

Over the Easter holidays I did something I have been meaning to do for a very, very long time. I weeded my front garden! I know it doesn’t sound very exciting, but I have been putting it off for years. It looked like a mini rainforest out there! I was very brave when all the little bugs came running out….  That’s just one of the boring jobs I managed to finally tackle.

Other than that, I managed to do some reading at last, and I have been busy knitting for a friend who is expecting a baby in the summer. I have knitted a dog - and a cat in Wolves colours because the daddy is a big Wolves fan.  When my delivery comes later today, I can start a cardigan.  can’t wait to hear whether you have found new hobbies or skills since we were last in school!

Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances, I have had to put aside my Pokemon Go adventures. I know how shocked Ben will be by that news, but as soon as things settle down, I’ll be back out there catching! In the meantime, I have had to make do with playing Super Mario with my son.

Those of us who are local to The Ridge are very lucky to have some beautiful countryside within easy walking distance.  Every two or three days, my husband and I have been for a long(ish) walk to Norton Covert or Bunker’s Hill Wood with our older son. The younger one is too “busy” (in other words, lazy!) This has been particularly lovely for me, as I have seen a number of Ridge children out and about.

I think that’s about all I’ve been up to. We all need to be keeping safe and well at the moment, but hopefully it won’t be too much longer until we are all together again.  Make the most of your time with your families – and keep reading and Doodling!

Lots of love,

Mrs Evans.
