Winners of the Black Country Games Tag Rugby competition!!

Our trophy cabinet is filling up quite nicely from this years competitions so far!

We are lucky to have an extremely keen group of girl footballers at The Ridge. In late 2022, we signed up to take part in `The Biggest Football Session Ever` which took place on 8^th March 2023. Despite the snow, it didn’t stop our girls from playing!

On the 7^th March our Year 5 & 6 Netball Team took part in the School Games Netball Tournament at Leasowes High School. Many schools entered this competition so our team did amazingly well to have reached the semi finals, particularly as they only had a few weeks practice due to bad weather.

On the 15^th February some of our Year 3 & 4 children attended the School Games TAG Rugby Megafest at Leasowes High School. The High School children delivered key skills and fun games to help upskill the primary school children to develop their understanding of the sport Rugby. This was a non-competitive competition which our children really enjoyed.

We introduced a chess club in Autumn 2 2022 to help our children to develop their strategy and tactical skills. Five months later we now have a dedicated group of over 20 children, playing at least once a week. We have even had to take over a classroom to accommodate everyone!

On January 26^th our Girls KS2 Football Team went to compete across a two week Girls Football Mini League, held at Summerhill School. The girls did exceptionally well to say that they had only been playing alongside each other for a few months. The girls will be representing our school in another football tournament during the summer term

On the 2^nd March our Year 3 & 4 Dodgeball Team travelled to the Link Academy to participate against other surrounding schools. Our team of dedicated and enthusiastic children won this year’s school cluster competition which was a huge achievement. Well done!

All together at the TAG Rugby Cluster Finals. After a motivating team talk, the team went on to gain their place in the Black Country Finals.

At The Ridge we have a dedicated PE Crew who provide daily sports activities at lunch time for our children in Key Stage 2. Activities include Dodgeball, Football, Cricket, Basketball, Team Building games, and a mini carousel of sporting challenges

On the 23^rd November 2022 we had an Athlete visit from GB Pole Vaulter Adam Hague. Adam came in to school to talk about his own achievements, experiences, highs and lows whilst training to become a Team GB athlete. Our children then participated in several activity challenges to raise money for new PE equipment.

On the 8^th February 2023, our School Sports Athletics Team travelled to Leasowes High School where the team achieved a fantastic 3^rd place at the School Games Sports Hall Athletics Competition

Our School Football Team have recently formed, and have begun their journey to compete in a cluster schools mini league at Redhill School.

On the 11^th October 2022, our YR 5 & 6 TAG Rugby Finalists competed in the School Games TAG Rugby Festival at Windsor High School. After seeing off some strong competition the children took first place and progressed to the Dudley Finals. Again, the children did spectacularly well and they will now be competing in the Black Country Finals in June
