OSCAR Newsletter - September 2024

Dear Parents/Carers,

Firstly, the team would like to welcome back our regulars after the summer break – we hope you all had a wonderful time! Welcome also to our new children who are just starting in Reception class.

Just few little requests/reminders at the start of the new school year.

  • The school car park is for staff only, even after school. Please ask anyone collecting on your behalf not to park there.
  • In accordance with the OSCAR policy in your handbook, please give a month’s notice of a change to or cancellation of your contract.
  • If your child is being collected by someone else on your behalf (named in your application), please ensure they have the password.
  • If your child is not attending their booked session, please let us know by text, email or a quick call to the office.

We are busier than ever this year! If you need an extra session, please give as much notice as possible – the handbook asks for a minimum of 24 hours. If you can, it would be appreciated if you could give more.

The children love coming to our Club. We work very hard to make sure they are not only safe, but happy. Mrs Phillips-Roden and I worked hard all last year to raise funds for a Nintendo Switch – I seemed to spend every evening crocheting! As a result, last summer term we could buy our Switch. This was the perfect complement to our Xbox, very kindly donated by Mr Smith. The older children use the Xbox in the Intervention Room and the younger ones use the Switch in the hall because it is easy to pack away in a locked cupboard. They are queuing up to use both consoles! Sadly, on returning in September, we found that one of our Xbox controllers no longer works – meaning that we only have one working controller.  If anyone has a spare they no longer need, and would be willing to donate to the club, the children would be very grateful.  Likewise, any unwanted Switch games would be gratefully received.

We have an addition to our OSCAR team this year. Mrs Shipley (Y1 TA) will be helping us out now, as our numbers are growing.

For new parents, the OSCAR staffing is as follows:

Mrs J Evans -OSCAR Leader

Mrs V Phillips-Roden – OSCAR Deputy Leader

Mrs S Harris – OSCAR Assistant

Mrs S Shipley – OSCAR Assistant.

Thank you for your continued support – we look forward to another year of happy children!

Jane Evans and the OSCAR team.
