Behaviour Strategy Update

Dear Parents / Carers,

We are currently developing our behaviour policy in school.

We have made some adaptations to our behaviour strategies this year and we want these to be clear to both children and their parents, so we can get the expected behaviours and learning attitudes right for all pupils and give every child the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Staff in school use a ‘Behaviour Blueprint’ for consistency. This sets out our steps for handling behaviour. (Moving forwards, we have now removed the red and yellow card system). All staff will follow the stepped sanctions and consequences when managing behaviours that do not follow the school rules. This consistency will ensure staff, children and parents are clear on the steps and consequences for inappropriate behaviours. For further details, please refer to our Behaviour Blueprint on the school website here.

We have adopted a restorative approach following an incident of unwanted behaviour. Our restorative conversations are based on a set of questions that aim to develop and restore relationships between children and adults following a behaviour incident.

We have 3 school rules:

Ready, Respectful, Safe

Each class discusses these rules so there is a shared understanding of our expectations.

This is underpinned by our consistent practices towards managing behaviour:

  • Consistent, calm adult behaviour
  • First attention for best conduct
  • Relentless routines
  • Scripting difficult conversations
  • Restorative Follow-up

For further information, you can view our Parent Information Booklet about behaviour on our school website here.

Kind regards,

Mrs J Hadley

Deputy Headteacher
