Year 6 Leavers Assembly

Dear Year 6 Parents and Carers,

Following this week's announcements about the next stage of relaxation of restrictions, I am writing to share our arrangements for the Leavers Assembly.

Despite the anticipated changes on 19th July, the Local Authority and Public Health are advising that we maintain our bubble arrangements in school until we return for the new academic year. This is to reduce the risks of children and staff having to self-isolate during the start of the holiday due to contact with a positive case in the last three days of term. This is something that I am sure you would all wish to avoid and I know that staff are very keen to do everything that they can to ensure that everybody's holiday plans are not disrupted after a very difficult year.

Schools remain responsible for tracking and tracing contacts until the middle of August and without maintaining our bubbles, this will become an impossible task. Therefore on the school site, social distancing will remain, as will all the other precautions we have put in place to minimise risk.

We have taken the decision to record our Leavers' Assembly and upload it to the school website. I know that not being able to hold it in its usual format will be a disappointment to everyone. However, we would like to invite you to a short outdoor presentation at 2.00p.m. on Tuesday 20th July, when the children will have their leavers gift and we will present the Cruise Cup. We ask that there is a maximum of two family members per pupil and those attending will be directed to a place to stand in their household groups. We ask that you remain in this place and observe social distancing for the whole of the event. The children will sing a song and a few words will be said before we present the Cruise Cup and leavers' gifts. At the conclusion, you will be asked to leave with your child, family by family, following our one-way system. (We can arrange for you to collect siblings, if you would like to.)

We hope that this will allow us to come together to celebrate the achievements of the Year 6 and wish them well in the future but to do it in a safe and responsible way. We are keeping our fingers crossed for a dry day!

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Kind regards,

Mrs D Hudson
