Tennis competition 2019

We have all enjoyed the tennis competition this year. We got into different guardians cars to travel to Stourbridge tennis club. The court was nice and big, we practiced for half an hour before the competition started. We all got to play 3/4 matches that lasted 2 minutes. The umpires were from Winsor high school, who counted our scores. We won most of the matches and team A got through to the semi-finals. The A team all had to play a 1-minute match, which we unfortunately lost. We were extremely proud with our results. We would definately recommend it for other year 3 and 4 students in the coming years!

Well done everyone!!

The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Our sporting achievements this year include:

Sports in Schools

Competitive Sports

We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

We look forward to applying once again in 2019!

Stourbridge Summer Tennis Camps

See flyer below for details of Stourbridge Tennis Camps this summer

Playmakers

This afternoon our Year 5 Play Maker pupils lead games for Year 1 and 2 pupils. They organised, set up, instructed and modelled. What great mini-teachers they are!

This week's games included football shooting and dribbling, shooting hoops and helicopter tag.

Playmaker Awards

As part of our ambition to promote leadership within P.E, Year 5 were trained to become 'Playmakers' as part of the 'Playmaker award' (an accredited award for the sports leaders associated).

The group of 18 children from year 5 were trained by Miss Collins and we are delighted that all children achieved the award.

The children learnt about the mnemonic P.A.C.E (Participants, Area, Communication and Equipment) and how to apply it when planning and leading their sessions.

The children learnt an array of new activities to implement as part of warm ups skill-building activities and games.

Just before lunch they used this new knowledge and experience to plan and set up an activity which they led in the afternoon. It was so pleasing to see the children apply their refined leadership skills and new communication and organisational skills to ensure their sessions were appropriate, fun and effective.

Well done to all our newly-qualified playmakers!!

Children loved working as a team to successfully navigate along the canal with one team even enjoying creating their own version of 'We Will Rock You'... also known as 'Paddle Rock'. The children were even brave enough to paddle standing up and walk along the boat and high-five their friends.

A huge thank you to Andy for allowing us to take part in such a wonderful opportunity- we loved it!
