A message from the Headteacher

Dear Parents/Carers

What a lovely day we have all had! Our Amble Ramble was a great success and it was wonderful to see so many of you come to join us on the walk. The children looked amazing and again, we have been bowled over by the creativity of the costumes. Thank you too, for all your efforts drumming up sponsorship, which will be used to fund some much needed resources for our curriculum. Sponsorship money can either be paid online through ParentMail, or cash handed into the school office if preferred.

Our Year 6 pupils took their End of Key Stage 2 SATs tests last week, and we are all incredibly proud of each and every one of them; not only for their hard work in preparing, but for their incredibly mature approach to the tests. Special thanks too, go to the staff who have taught the children (not only in Year 6 but throughout their time in school), the support staff who helped ensure that the tests ran smoothly and to everyone who gave the children such a good start to each day with the SATs Breakfast.

I hope that you all have a wonderful Bank Holiday and the children enjoy their half term break: keeping everything crossed that the sun comes back out for us!

Kind regards

Mrs D Hudson

Headteacher

Supervision of Pupils at the Beginning and End of the School Day

Please can we remind you for the need to keep an eye on pupils before they are safely in school, and once they have been released into your care at the end of the school day.

  • Children should not walk on driveways or walls of people's property on Gregory Road and the surrounding area.
  • Children must be supervised whilst waiting for the school gates to be opened. We have had reports of children throwing missiles, and a lot of pushing and shoving in the small space between the school fence and gate, and our neighbours fence.
  • Children should not use the fixed playground equipment at the end of the day. It is especially concerning to see Reception and Key Stage 1 pupils on the Key Stage 2 equipment.
  • Children must not play football at the end of the day. Our kind neighbours often return balls to the playground but these pose a danger, especially to young children, when football is played in this crowded space.

Thank you for your support with this.

School Photographs - Tuesday 4th June

Class and Team school photographs will be taken on Tuesday 4th June.  Can we please remind you that children should wear their full winter school uniform on this date.

(Reception and Year 6 will also have Forest School on this date - so will need to change into their forest school clothing after photos).

Summer Fayre

The Ridge Friends Association are busy preparing for our Summer Fayre on Saturday 29th June, which, along with the Christmas Fayre, is one of the most important fundraisers of the year.  There is a mufti day on Friday 7th June for donations of bottles (those containing alcohol are particularly welcome!) and Teddies/Toys. Please ensure that any glass bottles are brought in to school by an adult. Thank you.

We really appreciate your help in whatever way you can, and thank you for your support.

Kindergarten Open Days

Please see the attached poster for Kindergarten open afternoons which are being held in June.

Please share this information with friends and family who may be interested in finding out what our Kindergarten has to offer.

Contacting Mrs McGivney, Our SENCo.

As you are aware, Mrs McGivney is only available in school on a Friday. After Easter we will have a new ‘triage’ system in place.  If you wish to speak to Mrs McGivney or arrange a meeting, please email Mrs Brown jbrown@ridge.dudley.sch.uk  who will liaise with Mrs McGivney the next time she is in school.
