A message from the Headteacher

Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and healthy and fulfilling 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Christmas holidays are almost upon us:  I don’t think in over 30 years working in schools I can ever remember breaking up for Christmas quite so late! I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support this year which has been a busy one with many highlights. Everyone is ready for a well-earned break but can take great satisfaction in the successes seen in 2023.

Over the last couple of weeks we have enjoyed our Christmas performances, which were wonderful: the children did a great job and all of the productions were of an amazing standard. Special thanks to the staff who worked so hard to produce such memorable productions. On Monday we all enjoyed the ‘Elf Show’ where Flip entertained us with magic, unicycling and a fair few showers from his water pistol, aimed mostly at the staff! We are very grateful to the Rikunenko family for sponsoring this event. The Children have also enjoyed their parties this week and yesterday, a special visit from Father Christmas himself, who made time in his busy schedule to visit The Ridge.

As we come to the end of 2023, I wish you and your family a very happy Christmas and a successful and healthy new year.

Kind regards

Mrs D Hudson

Headteacher

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Mrs Hudson is the Designated Safeguarding Lead and any concerns should be shared with her or the Deputy Safeguarding Leads – Mrs Hadley, Miss Beddoes and Mrs Gledhill.  Where child protection concerns are raised, the school has a statutory duty to refer these concerns to children’s social care.

We are sure that many young people have devices on their Christmas list, whether that’s a tablet, phone or games console – the list goes on! Getting a device can be an exciting time for young people, but there may be safeguarding considerations for parents and carers as they consider buying it.

In addition to the information in last week’s newsletter, this poster gives parents and carers some handy hints for setting up new devices.
