A message from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

It was lovely to see so many of you earlier in the week at our consultation afternoon and evening. I trust that you found the opportunity to meet with teachers a valuable one and that you found their mid-point reports helpful in knowing what you can do at home to support their learning. Your on-going help is such an important factor in your child’s progress and we are grateful for all that you do.

During our assembly yesterday, we were visited by the ‘Open the Book Team’.  They are trained volunteers from the local churches in Wollaston and Norton who come to school throughout the year to share stories from the Bible. The children take part in the retelling with costumes and props and thoroughly love these interactive experiences. This week’s story was Noah and the Flood, which the whole school enjoyed. It is wonderful to have these links with our local community and we are very grateful to Ann, Joy and John who give up their time to lead these assemblies.

Kind regards

Mrs D Hudson

Headteacher

Skipping Workshop - Wednesday 6th March

On Wednesday we are looking forward to welcoming ‘Skipping Workshop’ into school. The aim of the day is to introduce the children to the many benefits of skipping, which has been shown to improve children’s fitness, co-ordination, co-operation and behaviour. Many of you will remember skipping games and rhymes from your own childhood and we hope to revive these! This event is being paid for through the school’s Sports Premium Funding but you will hopefully have already seen a letter about the PE mufti and request for a donation of £1.00 to help us buy some new skipping ropes.  We hope that you can support this.

World Book Day - Thursday 7th March

Miss Wesson and the Reading Ambassadors have been busy planning for World Book Day on Thursday 7th March. The children loved many of the things we did last year and wanted to bring them back for this year too, so you may see some similarities! They've asked for everyone to come in PJs again...or comfy, more stylish loungewear if you prefer! They also loved bringing in their favourite book/a book they would like to share from home, to read to children from another class. Miss Wesson and Miss Beddoes will launching the day with a whole school assembly and there will be a range of activities going on including....

  • On-line Illustrator draw along tutorials
  • Re-tell a classic story or your class book in comic strip form
  • Shared stories
  • Teachers visiting other classes to read

Please see the attached a poster with details of the day and your Reading Bingo card!

Happy reading!
