A message from the Headteacher

Dear Parents/Carers

I wanted to update you again on the current situation regarding COVID in school. It has been a challenging week, seeing a significant surge in cases within our school community resulting in very high numbers of staff absences. I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff who have remained in school this week. They have worked so hard and been so flexible to ensure that we keep the school running so children have been able to continue their learning. Outstanding teamwork once again.

Due to this outbreak at The Ridge, Public Health have advised us to reintroduce a range of mitigation measures in school temporarily. As part of this we were also advised to postpone our sports days again until the spike in cases across school comes down and we can be sure staff have returned well and we can host our sports days safely. Understandably, this has caused some disappointment for many of you, which I share too, as a member of staff and also as a parent. However, the important thing at the moment is to follow the guidance of public health experts, so we can get the outbreak at school under control quickly and return to normal again.

Once the current situation has improved, we will do our very best to find alternative dates for our sports days and keep you informed.

In the meantime, thank you for your support with this matter.

Just before half term we had our Amble Ramble sponsored walk. It was a lovely morning and thank you to everyone who joined in on the day, which made it so special. Since then the sponsor money has been coming in and the total raised to date is a stunning £2917.36! We have been overwhelmed by the support you have all given to our sponsored event, which crucial to building school funds. We will be able to do lots of wonderful things to develop wellbeing across the school with this money. Thank you so much!

As you are aware, we said the class that raised the most money could have an extra treat. This year’s winners are… Year 2, they raised £745.10 as a class, which is an amazing achievement. Thank you to everyone who was involved in that. When staff are back, we will make a final decision on what that treat will be and share the good news with Year 2 very soon!

We have also had a number of parents/carers contribute to our gardening supplies request too, which we are really grateful for. Work is already underway to enhance our outside spaces.

Thank you to everyone who brought bottles in for the bottle stall this morning. The Summer Fair is scheduled for Saturday 2nd July, 1pm-4pm. More details to follow very soon, when things are hopefully more normal again.

Thank you to all of you for your continued support.

Kind regards

Mrs J Hadley
Deputy Headteacher
