A message from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

I can't believe how quickly time has flown and that it is now the half term holiday. Whatever you have planned, I hope that you are able to spend some family time with your children and make the most of these crisp spring days.

It has been a good half term in school with lots of visitors and visits. Again this week, we have received compliments from supply staff and from the representative from the RNLI who worked with the children yesterday. Today is World Kindness Day and it has been wonderful to see the children acknowledging the significance of the day and boosting each other with their compliments to other children and staff. We are all very proud of our pupils.

It has been a challenging half term staffing wise with lots of illness and other changes but we do always strive to put the children and their learning at the heart of all we do. We are keen to know what you think about our school and have therefore issued our annual anonymous parents and carers questionnaire today. Please do give us your feedback so that we can celebrate all that is good about our school but also listen and act on the areas which need to develop.

Have a good break and we look forward to seeing you after half term.

Kind regards

Mrs D Hudson

Headteacher

Reminders - Inset and Closure Days

We have set our final INSET Day for Friday 10th March. School will be closed to pupils on this day while staff will be working in school to further develop our curriculum.

A reminder that school is also closed on Monday 1st May (Bank Holiday) Thursday 4th May (Local Elections – Remote Learning Day) and Monday 8th May (Coronation)

Uniform Swap-Shop

Thank you to those of you who have contributed uniform for our Uniform Swap Shop. The rail of preloved uniform is now in the entrance hall (under the stairs). Please feel free to come and look for items for your child. If you see something you can use you are more than welcome to take if. A donation to school fund or a swap of an outgrown item of uniform is very welcome but is not required. Further donations of clean, tidy items of uniform which still have plenty of life in them would be very welcome.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Mrs Hudson is the Designated Safeguarding Lead and any concerns should be shared with her or the Deputy Safeguarding Leads – Mrs Hadley and Miss Beddoes.  Where child protection concerns are raised, the school has a statutory duty to refer these concerns to children’s social care.

Goodbye

We have a few goodbye's to announce as we approach half term.

Firstly we send our best wishes to Mrs Spink who left Kindergarten yesterday. We thank her for all that she has done over 8 years that she has worked at The Ridge, she will be very much missed!.

Today we say goodbye to Mrs Thomas, our Year 1 teacher who has been covering maternity leave, and would like to thank her for all that she has done since September.

And lastly but by no means leastly, we say a fond farewell to the one and only lunchtime superintendent Mrs Shayle, who is retiring after 21 years at The Ridge!  Fortunately for us Mrs Shayle will continue to help out with swimming lessons so will still be seen around school on a Friday afternoon!

We wish you all the very best for the future.
