A message from the Headteacher
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been such a short half term and I can’t believe that next week is our last before the holidays.
Huge thanks go to Mrs Rouse who organised such a wonderful celebration of V.E. Day last week. The children really enjoyed learning songs, dances and games from the era and learning about the occasion we were marking from a special visitor.
I was incredibly proud of members of our School Council who took part in the recruitment of a new member of our Admin Team. They interviewed the candidates with some great questions and their insight into their responses was amazing.
A big “well done” to our Year 6 pupils who have done their SATs this week. They have worked so hard and approached the task with a wonderful attitude. Thank you to the staff who have supported them and have run SATs Breakfast to give them a great start to each day. Next week Years 5 and 6 are off to The Pioneer Centre for three days of adventurous activities. We hope that they have a wonderful time!
Finally, thank you for your kind words after the news of my retirement at the end of the year. It will be with very mixed feelings that I leave The Ridge in the summer. However, I am not thinking about that at the moment as there is still so much to enjoy between now and the end of the year!
Kind regards
Mrs D Hudson
Headteacher
INSET Day
Just a quick reminder that Friday 13th June will be an INSET Day and school will be closed to pupils.
Choir
On Tuesday 1st April, The Ridge Choir performed at Dudley Town Hall for the DPA Spring Concert. They joined other schools as part of the 'massed primary choir' to perform a range of Disco Classics. The choir rehearsed on stage all afternoon before performing to a huge audience. They were an absolute credit to themselves and the school - performing with confidence and enthusiasm. Well done choir, and thank you to Mrs Rouse for organising!
RFA Reminders
Thank you to those who have voted on Forest School funding. For those that have not yet voted, please can you ensure you cast your vote by Monday 19th May so it can be discussed at the AGM on Thursday 22nd May. It is really important that we capture as many peoples votes to make an informed decision. For those still left to vote, please go to the forms section within ParentMail.
For anyone wishing to join the RFA - please come along to the AGM on Thursday 22nd May in the bungalow 6.30pm.
Supervision of children at the beginning and end of the school day
Please can we remind you for the need to keep an eye on pupils at the beginning of the school day and once they have been released into your care at the end of the day. Children should not be using any of the fixed playground equipment or be on the trim trail and grass bank at the beginning or end of the day. It is particularly concerning to see Reception and and even Preschool children being left to play unattended on the trim trail, grass bank and the fences next to the tipi.
Thank you for your support with this.

Safeguarding - Raising Concerns About a Child or Young Person Over the School Holiday
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Mrs Hudson is the Designated Safeguarding Lead and any concerns should be shared with her or the Deputy Safeguarding Lead – Mrs Hadley. Where child protection concerns are raised, the school has a statutory duty to refer these concerns to children’s social care.
