A message from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope that you are all enjoying the lovely sunny weather that we are currently experiencing.

It seems inconceivable that we are now in the final half term of the year: where has it gone! This part of the school year is always a busy one, filled with a range of special events which we are looking forward to sharing with you. Next week we have our sports days, which are always enjoyable mornings. Preparations are also gathering pace for the Summer Fayre on Saturday and we look forward to seeing you at this wonderful community event.

In amongst the enhancement events, the children continue to make progress in their learning. Last week we had a visit from our School Improvement Partner who came to look at how we teach reading and the impact of the developments we have been working on within the wider curriculum. Our visitor enjoyed seeing lessons across the school and was impressed with the children’s behaviour and how they spoke to him about their learning. It was satisfying to acknowledge the progress that has been made due to the hard work of the children and their teachers.

Kind regards

Mrs D Hudson

Headteacher

Sports Days

We are looking forward to our sports days next week.

Tuesday 20th June Key Stage 2 starting at 9.30am
Wednesday 21st June Kindergarten and Reception starting at 9.30am
Key stage 1 starting at 10.30am

Please remember to send your child to school in their PE kit on the relevant day (including house colour t-shirt where requested).

The RFA will have refreshments available for spectators to buy and have kindly provided refreshments for children. Please bring your own outdoor chair or blanket to sit on.

Hot Weather

It is lovely to enjoy the recent spell of sunshine but we are all conscious of being out in the sun and especially on our forthcoming sports days. Please make sure that your child brings their water bottle and their sun hat each day. Please also apply long-lasting sun-cream before they come to school.  We endeavour to provide access to shady spots at playtime and lunchtime and adapt the curriculum as best we can to keep the children out of the sun.

Uniform – Shoes and Socks

  • Despite the heat, we ask that all children wear socks to school.
  • Please keep trainers for PE days or Forest School. On all other days school shoes/sandals are to be worn as part of our school uniform.

Please see the parent pack for further details of our uniform requirements. Thank you for your support.

Summer Fayre - Saturday 24th June

It’s not too late to get involved in the Summer Fayre. If you are able to offer to help with the setting up, running a stall or packing down and cleaning away afterwards, please let the school office know.

Does Your Child Want to Learn to Play a Musical Instrument ?

We are working with Dudley Performing Arts (DPA) to provide music lessons in school and now is the time to start! The team at DPA have decades of experience and are the biggest provider of music education in our area. Students can start for as little as £8 a session and if you would like your child to start simply click on the link below to find out how it works.

Learning a musical instrument is a great thing for young people to do. It can help in all sorts of ways and research suggests that it can help children develop academically and socially.  Lessons take place in school making it easy to fit in around your busy family lives and we hope that you will take up this amazing offer.

Safeguarding - Helping Very Young Children Seek Support

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Mrs Hudson is the Designated Safeguarding Lead and any concerns should be shared with her or the Deputy Safeguarding Leads – Mrs Hadley and Miss Beddoes.  Where child protection concerns are raised, the school has a statutory duty to refer these concerns to children’s social care.

Last week we hosted a parent information session about how adults can help keep children safe in the online world. It is important that we all keep abreast of this rapidly changing aspect of our lives.
