A message from the Headteacher
Dear Parents and Carers,
It hardly seems possible that we have completed half of the school year! The weeks since Christmas seem to have sped past and I can’t believe that we are on holiday next week. It seems that regardless of the length of the half term, whether it has been a four week half term or an eight week one, everyone is always ready for the break when it comes! Whatever your family plans are for half term, I hope that you enjoy the change of routine with some quality time with your children. Let’s hope that the weather is kind!
We look forward to welcoming everyone back fully refreshed and raring to go on Monday 24th February.
Kind regards
Mrs D Hudson
Headteacher
Discos
Thank you to all the parent helpers and staff, who enabled the children to have such a wonderful evening at the discos last night. There were some cool tunes, amazing dancing and bucket loads of sweets eaten! Everyone went home tired but happy. Special thanks to our DJ James Barnes!
World Book Day - Thursday 6th March
Please see the Class Dojo message which has been sent with details of how we will be celebrating World Book Day at The Ridge.
Nearer the time, look out for details of the RFA’s exciting World Book Day Wonka Event!
Inset Day - Friday 21st March
We have set Friday 21st March as an INSET Day. School will be closed to children on this day whilst staff undertake training.
There is one more date INSET day to set which will be in the summer term. We will let you know when it will be as soon as we are able.
Music to Our Ears!
We are delighted to inform you that our school has received a Music Mark Award for 2024/25 in recognition of our positive approach to music across the school and our engagement with Dudley Performing Arts.
The citation from Dudley Performing Arts states
A school engaging in music making can usually see marked improvements in behaviour, listening and focus, high self-esteem of pupils means less bullying, improved attainment, and higher school attendance. A musical school is always a happy school with a positive welcoming atmosphere and high expectations.
Congratulations to Mrs. Rouse, who is our Music Subject Leader but also to all the staff who support music through the curriculum, through our Whole Class Instrumental Tuition and in choir. A big shout out also goes to all the pupils who take extra- curricular music lessons, who have also contributed to this award.
School Food United
Please remember to download the School Food United app. This is the new way for ordering and managing school dinners.
There are currently 66% of children registered which is great, however we need 100% to ensure we can effectively administer the school lunch process.
Even if your child brings a packed lunch every day, please still register as teachers will use this app in the classroom on a morning to ensure every child has a lunch accounted for, whether that is a school dinner or a packed lunch from home. Thank you.

A Reminder to Parents Collecting from OSCAR Club
Just a quick reminder that collection of children from OSCAR Club at the end of the school day, takes place on the steps. If staff have a personal matter that needs to be discussed with you or the weather is especially poor, you will be invited into the lobby area. Thank you for your help with this.
Safeguarding - Keeping Children Safe
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Mrs Hudson is the Designated Safeguarding Lead and any concerns should be shared with her or the Deputy Safeguarding Leads – Mrs Hadley and Ms Gledhill. Where child protection concerns are raised, the school has a statutory duty to refer these concerns to children’s social care.
