A message from the Headteacher
Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy Easter! It has been a good term in school and it has been wonderful to see the children making progress and enjoying their learning. There have been many highlights over the term including sporting events, arts and cultural events, visitors coming into school and educational visits. In particular, it was wonderful to take year 5 and 6 to the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton earlier in the week to see a performance of Pig Heart Boy. The children were a real credit to everyone and enjoyed the performance. It was wonderful to her the children discuss and reflect on the dilemma’s presented by the events of the script.
Well done to everyone who took part in our annual Easter Bonnet and Egg Decorating Event. Congratulations to the winners – such difficult decisions! Thank you too, to the children and staff who have lead our Easter celebration activities and the The Ridge Friends who have gifted each of our pupils an Easter Egg. I hope that you have a wonderful Easter break with your families, have fun and stay safe. We look forward to seeing you all back on Monday 28th April for what will be a very short Summer 1 half term. Please remember that school will be closed on Monday 5th May for the Bank Holiday.
Kind regards
Mrs D Hudson
Headteacher
Hello and Good Bye
This week we have welcomed Mrs Kate Morley, who has taken up her new post of Pre-School Teacher. It is lovely to have her here with us and we know that along with Miss Homer who has now taken up her permanent post as Deputy Pre-School Leader, they are going to be a strong team supporting our youngest pupils at the start of their educational journey in school.
We are also saying a “good bye” to Mrs Povey, who works in the school office. Mrs Povey is a familiar face to most of you and her cheeriness and helpfulness – nothing is too much trouble – will be really missed. Mrs Povey is going to a new job in another local school, where the hours are more suited to her family commitments but we shall really miss her at The Ridge. We wish her good luck and all the best in the future.
A message from Mrs Povey
I have loved working at the Ridge and I will miss everyone!
All the best to the staff, parents and most of all, the children!
Mrs Povey xx
Summer Term Uniform
After Easter, the children have the option of wearing summer uniform
- Yellow gingham or striped dress
- The Ridge Primary School Sweatshirt/Cardigan
- The Ridge Primary School Yellow Polo Shirt (non logoed polo shirts can also be worn)
- White or grey socks or tights
- Sandals may be worn, with socks, but must be suitable for school (no trainers, beach/jelly shoes)
Please can we also take the opportunity to remind you of the uniform on days when children come dressed for PE.
- The Ridge Primary School Sweatshirt/Cardigan
- Plain white tee or polo shirt
- Blue shorts or P.E. skirt
- In colder weather, blue joggers or a track suit may be worn. These should be none branded or with an unobtrusive logo.
- Trainers suitable for outdoor P.E. and Games lessons
Earrings and Hair Decoration
Please can we remind you that if your child has pierced ears, any earrings worn to school should be plain simple studs. These must be able to be removed by your child for PE. If you are considering having your child’s ears pierced please have it done at the start of the Summer holiday so that they don’t have to miss PE. (They are not able to take part wearing earrings, even if they are covered.)
Hair clips, bobbles and headbands should complement our uniform expectations. They should be simple, unadorned and flat to the head (i.e. no ‘ears’ or other protruding parts.) Thank you.
