Dear Parents/Carers,

Over the next term, the children in Years 5 and 6 will be taking part in lessons, which relate specifically to themes from our Sex and Relationship Education (SRE) Programme. Staff will be teaching alongside Laura Devereaux, our School Nurse.

• For Year 5, the whole class will be looking at hygiene within the context of growing up. For the girls there will be a separate session about menstruation (periods). This will all be taking place on Monday 15th May 2023.

• For Year 6, topics will include puberty, human reproduction, general hygiene and discussions about relationships.  In addition, Year 6 will also take part in a performance and workshop lead by Loudmouth Theatre Company entitled ‘My Mate Fancies You’. This is an interactive educational programme, which explores the sometimes daunting physical and emotional changes associated with puberty and helps children prepared for a smooth transition to secondary school. We have worked with Loudmouth for a number of years and hold their work in high regard. Year 6 will be taking part in their Loudmouth session on Monday 19th June 2023 and will be working with our School Nurse on Friday 30th June 2023
