A message from the Headteacher
Dear Parents and Carers
It has been a busy few weeks in school with lots of special events happening. Our efforts for Comic Relief raised £125.00. Thank you for support.
We were pleased to see so many of you at Open Evening where we had the opportunity to share with you your child’s successes and their next steps. I hope that you found it informative: we appreciate all the support that you give your children.
A group of children from Years 5 and 6 recently took part in a series of Gifted and Talented workshops held at The Ridge and at other local schools, covering areas such as music, drama, PE, ICT and writing. Our children took part enthusiastically and were a real credit to the school. In addition, a team of children represented us at the R.E. Debate. They had worked really hard to prepare and supported by Mrs Hemus, did a wonderful job persuading the voting audience to support their motion. We seem to have some aspiring politicians amongst us – perhaps we ought to send them to Westminster to show them how it is done! Thanks go to the team and to Mrs Hemus for all their hard work.
I am delighted to share that news that we have exceeded our target of raising £1000 to buy books for the new library! This is thanks to your amazing generosity and we want to express our profound gratitude to you all. Although the campaign still has a few more days to run and it is not too late to donate if you still wish to, the books have begun arriving and we are all very excited to see the new titles going onto the shelves. We look forward to holding our ‘grand opening’ and giving children, parents and carers the opportunity to visit our libraries and see the transformation.
50 from 50
We will be launching a new Support Your School campaign, aimed at ensuring that we can continue to keep our library stock up to date. We will be approaching local businesses to see if we can secure a donation of £50 from 50 businesses. If you know of a business who you think we should approach, or work for a company which has a social responsibility fund, please let Mrs Hudson know. A copy of the letter being issued is below...
Finally, thank you for all your support with our Gambia links. As you may know, each class now has a child of their own age with whom they are paired. Our children receive and share news with their child in Banjul through letters and photos. A group of students from Ridgewood are off to visit The Gambia over Easter, taking birthday gifts and other items out to support the children, their families and their local communities. Thank you for your help to make this possible.
Kind Regards
Mrs D Hudson
